It’s hard to ignore the presence of social media more so when you’re such a big organisation. KFC Malaysia recently had a rude awakening as a few Youtube videos went viral; if it was to promote the brand I’m sure they wouldn’t have mind but it was the total opposite. The video which was taken on a mobile shows the employees messing around in the kitchen and let’s just say that after watching the video you’ll never want to step into a KFC again. Here’s the video for those who have yet to watch it .. you’ve been warned !!
Looks like the original video has been taken down but there’s more popping up on Youtube.
Despite it being a pretty old video, and KFC Malaysia has already taken the necessary measures previously including making a police report and sacking the people involved in the video; KFC couldn’t just sit back and do nothing about the video that suddenly resurfaced and has released an official statement regarding the whole incident.
It’s amazing to see companies approach social media as a whole, even more so when such incidents happen. I’m glad that KFC took the whole incident seriously and has made a response through the appropriate channel; in this case Youtube instead of just putting up a page with announcement or worst still just ignore the whole incident.
What do you think ? Are you still going to frequent KFC to get your favourite piece of fried chicken ?
