Google Guitar Keyboard

Google has been eating productivity on Thursday and Friday this week in honor of Les Paul's birthday with a totally interactive playable guitar just by mousing over on its homepage. The guitar isn't just playable with a mouse, but you can use the keyboard too, record your music and instantly share it too.
Users of the site are creating some impressive pieces of music and sharing online, so as we wind into the weekend we thought it might be fun for people to share their creations.
When you visit Google (click here) you can start playing the guitar just by mousing over the animated Google logo, or you can click a few of the number keys to figure out which strings match which keys.
When you’re ready for your big performance, click the black record button and have at it. When you’re done, grab the “http://goo.gl/doodle/” link that comes up and bring it back here to share your creation.

The new Doodle replaces the usual Google letters with strings from an electric guitar which can be played by moving your cursor over them but also using keyboard keys.

By clicking the rectangular button positioned where the usual second g sits allows you to play the guitar on your keyboard and also, impressively, allows you to record the tune you create.

Google have even provide the option of creating a URL of your tune so you can send it to others to have a listen. Mashable also reports that once a URL has been sent to someone and pasted into their address bar its possible for two users to play a duet together.

The recording function, however, doesn’t appear to be available on all versions of the site. Paul was one of the pioneers of the electric guitar and built one of the world’s first solid-body electric guitars.

In 1961 manufacturer Gibson changed the design of his 1940 design The Log to create the iconic Gibson Les Paul. The American guitar legend passed away in August 2009 and today would have been his 96th birthday.

The guitar logo is the latest in a long line of Doodles created by Google, with the ‘mother of modern dance’ Martha Graham being honoured last month along with Roger Hargreaves, the creator of the Mr Men series.
