The Harvest Event has begun. We're staying with Ginny @ L5.
This morning I walked out at 6:15 AM to the Vollums lot. It was still dark, but I know the roads now & can find my way with small clues like street signs, the change from gravel to paving to gravel, the dark shapes of houses under construction, trees & brush. I heard small bird sounds (no teru terus), chirring insects, a generator that started up around 6:30, a car that drove by on the main road ten minutes later. I saw dark cloudy sky, no moon or stars, many bright lights at the sales office, the light I'd left on in Ginny's kitchen, & one light at the house of the Cafayate family who live behind Ginny next to the carpenter's shed.
At the Vollums, a small animal squealed, things rustled in the brush. I couldn't stand still to listen because the mosquitos swarmed me. I wished I had Charles's tall boots to walk into the brush, through the brush & the fence & into the river. Next time.
It's lovely to be on the Estancia when everyone is asleep. Or somewhere else.
