In last One Piece episode: Ace begins to take care of Luffy more like a brother after he was almost mauled to death by a bear. Ace then set off on their own a few months later, bidding on the moutain bandits and Luffy goodbye. Dogra is a few months later, Luffy and shows a newspaper which talks about Ace and his new crew. 3 years later, Luffy is based on the Goa kingdom. He then hits up the local sea monster to eat Shank’s arm and show the results of their forestry training.

Time: Luffy proclaims that he is weak for Jinbe (and possibly the whole island), which implies that he can not be king of the pirates, as he wanted, given that he was unable to Ace of to protect his friends
